Empowering Goa’s Farmers: ₹1.5 Crore Machinery Drive Reaches 250 Agriculture Workers

₹1.50 Crore Machinery Support for 250 Farmers

The Goa Government has strengthened support for farmers by distributing agricultural machinery worth ₹1.50 crore free of cost to around 250 farmers from Colomba and Vaddem in Sanguem. Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Dessai distributed the equipment under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. The initiative aims to help farmers reduce labour costs, improve farm efficiency and increase agricultural productivity in Goa.

Modern Machinery to Strengthen Farming

The Goa Government is using modern agricultural equipment to make farming more efficient and reduce the challenges faced by farmers. Under the PMKSY initiative, the government provided machinery to farmers in Colomba and Vaddem, giving them access to equipment without the burden of purchasing it themselves.

Minister Subhash Phal Dessai distributed the machinery during a programme held in Sanguem. The initiative marked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday with a direct support measure for the farming community.

Reducing Labour Costs for Farmers

Agricultural labour remains a major expense for farmers, particularly when they rely heavily on manual work. Modern machinery can help farmers complete several farming activities faster while reducing their dependence on labour.

By providing equipment free of cost, the government is helping farmers lower their initial investment and improve the efficiency of their agricultural operations. The support can also make farming more practical for small and marginal farmers who may find it difficult to purchase costly machinery independently.

Focus on Higher Farm Productivity

The machinery distribution also supports the government’s wider focus on improving agricultural productivity in Goa. Farmers can use modern equipment to carry out farm operations more efficiently and save time during important stages of cultivation.

Minister Dessai said the equipment would help farmers reduce labour expenses and increase productivity. The initiative therefore combines financial support with access to modern farming technology.

Strengthening Goa’s Agricultural Community

The distribution of ₹1.50 crore worth of machinery highlights the government’s focus on strengthening farming communities at the grassroots level. By taking agricultural assistance directly to farmers in Sanguem, the initiative aims to make modern resources more accessible to the local farming community.

The support under PMKSY can help farmers improve their farming practices while encouraging greater use of technology in agriculture. With continued assistance and access to modern equipment, such initiatives can contribute to a more efficient and productive agricultural sector in Goa.
