The Goa Government has taken a significant step towards digital agriculture with the State’s first five farmers receiving AgriStack Farmer Enrolment IDs under the Goa State Amritkal Agriculture Policy, 2025. Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant felicitated the first five farmers from Surla and presented them with Certificates of Appreciation.
The Directorate of Agriculture organised the programme under the Swayampurna Goa : Vocal for Local initiative, reinforcing the Government’s focus on using technology to strengthen agricultural services and improve access for farmers across the State.

Goa Government Begins Digital Agriculture Rollout
With the first five Farmer IDs issued, the Goa Government has begun implementing the AgriStack Farmer ID system at the grassroots level.
The system will provide every enrolled farmer with a unique digital identity, creating a structured digital foundation for agricultural service delivery. The Government aims to encourage more farmers to register and become part of this technology-driven system.
The rollout marks another step in the State’s efforts to modernise agriculture and strengthen the delivery of government services to the farming community.
Technology to Make Farmer Services Easier
The AgriStack initiative will help the Government build a more organised digital system for farmers. By creating unique Farmer IDs, the initiative aims to make agricultural services more accessible, transparent and efficient.
The digital framework can also support better coordination between farmers and agricultural authorities by creating a reliable identity-based system for service delivery.
Through wider enrolment, the Directorate of Agriculture will work towards bringing more farmers into the digital agriculture network.

Amrit Kaal Policy Supports a Modern Farming Sector
The Goa State Amrit Kaal Agricultural Policy, 2025 provides a broader roadmap to rejuvenate agriculture in Goa and make farming more productive, sustainable and attractive to women and young people.
The Policy promotes climate-resilient farming, agricultural mechanisation, modern farming techniques, horticulture, farmer welfare and stronger market linkages. It also seeks to protect important agricultural lands such as rice fields, morad, kher and khazan lands while encouraging new income opportunities through agri-tourism and high-value crops.
The Policy also proposes measures to reduce post-harvest losses, improve access to markets, credit and insurance, strengthen farmer collectives and support innovation and skill development.
The first five AgriStack enrolments from Surla now provide a starting point for the Government’s wider digital agriculture drive. As more farmers obtain their Farmer IDs, the digital system can support more efficient delivery of agricultural services under the Policy.
Government Puts Farmers at the Centre of Digital Governance
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant’s felicitation of the first five farmers marked the beginning of Goa’s AgriStack enrolment drive under the State’s new agricultural policy.
The programme brought together the Secretary (Agriculture), Director of Agriculture, senior officials of the Directorate of Agriculture, farmers and other stakeholders.
With AgriStack enrollment now underway, the Goa Government is building a digital foundation for the State’s farming sector. The expansion of Farmer IDs will bring more farmers into a unified digital system and support the Government’s broader goal of making agricultural services simpler, more transparent and technology-enabled.
