Will Manoj Parab Return to RGP and Reclaim Its Original Identity?

Manoj Parab’s possible return could reshape RGP’s political future ahead of the 2027 Goa Assembly elections. Ajay Kholkar confirms that Parab has responded positively to the request to lead the organisation again. The leadership dispute and the proposed alliance with Congress have raised questions about RGP’s original political identity. With Diwali approaching, RGP could witness a major leadership announcement and a fresh organisational beginning.

Can Manoj Parab’s Return Restore RGP’s Original Political Identity?

The Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) now stands at a crucial political crossroads. As Goa moves closer to the 2027 Assembly elections, the party faces an important question: Will it return to the political vision on which it was founded, or will internal disputes and controversial political alignments define its future?

RGP founder and former president Manoj Parab’s possible return could provide the answer.

Former party treasurer Ajay Kholkar has confirmed that Parab responded positively to the organisation’s request to return and lead the party. His statement has generated fresh political interest, particularly after the leadership dispute and disagreements over the party’s proposed alliance with Congress.

Kholkar has also indicated that the party could make a significant announcement around Diwali, raising expectations of a new chapter in RGP’s political journey.

RGP Needs Leadership That Represents Its Original Vision

RGP emerged as a political alternative with a distinct identity and a promise to represent Goa’s interests. Manoj Parab played a central role in building that identity and transforming the organisation into a political party.

However, the current leadership dispute has placed that identity under pressure.

The disagreement surrounding Viresh Borkar’s leadership and the proposed Congress alliance has raised questions about who speaks for RGP and who has the authority to decide its political direction.

Kholkar has questioned the legitimacy of individuals conducting alliance discussions in the party’s name. He has also claimed that Borkar no longer holds authority within RGP and that the party has submitted objections to the relevant authorities over competing claims concerning its membership, leadership and registered address.

These developments have turned an internal organisational dispute into a larger political question about RGP’s future.

Will RGP Return to Its Independent Political Position?

One of the biggest questions surrounding the current crisis concerns RGP’s proposed understanding with Congress.

RGP originally built its political presence around an independent political identity. Any alliance with an established national party therefore invites questions about whether the organisation can preserve its founding principles and political independence.

Goans who supported RGP as an alternative political force will naturally expect clarity on this issue. They will want to know whether the party intends to continue its original political journey or adopt a different electoral strategy.

Parab’s possible return could bring renewed attention to these questions. His leadership may help the organisation revisit its founding vision, rebuild its grassroots network and establish a clearer political direction.

Manoj Parab’s Return Could Strengthen RGP Ahead of 2027

Speaking about the organisational discussions, Kholkar said senior party functionaries had met to rebuild the organisation, reconstitute dissolved committees and prepare for the upcoming Assembly elections.

The meeting included General Secretary, former president Manoj Parab, vice presidents Anish Naik and Shabi Fernandes, North Goa district president and founding member Rohan Kalangutkar.

Kholkar said the party expected greater clarity on its organisational structure and election strategy within the next two to three days.

He also maintained that RGP would contest the 2027 Assembly elections under its registered football symbol. He asserted that his faction retained the party’s official records and would pursue legal remedies against any unauthorised use of the party’s name or symbol.

The Election Commission and the relevant authorities will ultimately have to address the competing claims.

The Bigger Question: What Does RGP Want to Stand For?

The possible return of Manoj Parab goes beyond a change in party leadership. It raises a larger question about the political direction RGP wants to take before the next Assembly elections.

Can the party rebuild its organisation, restore confidence among its supporters and maintain the independent identity that helped it emerge in Goa’s political landscape?

For RGP, the coming days could prove decisive. If Parab accepts the responsibility, his return could give the party an opportunity to resolve its internal differences and reconnect with its original political vision.

As Diwali approaches, all eyes remain on Parab’s next move. His possible comeback could mark more than a leadership change; it could determine whether RGP begins a genuine organisational revival ahead of 2027.
