₹3 Crore Allegation, Congress Alliance Questions and Internal War: Has Viresh Borkar Abandoned RGP’s Principles?

The Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) entered Goa’s political landscape promising to protect Goan identity, safeguard the rights of Persons of Goan Origin (POGO), secure employment opportunities for Goans and protect their land and cultural heritage. The POGO Bill became one of the party’s key political promises as it positioned itself as a voice for Goan identity and regional rights. However, the escalating internal conflict within the party has raised serious questions about its leadership, credibility and commitment to its original principles. With MLA Viresh Borkar facing a ₹3 crore allegation from within his own party, the controversy has taken a more serious political turn.

The latest confrontation between Borkar, former RGP state president Manoj Parab and party leader Ajay Kholkar exposes the deepening divisions within the organisation. What once appeared to be a revolutionary movement united by a common vision now looks increasingly consumed by internal disputes, questions of authority and allegations of political manoeuvring.

₹3 Crore Allegation Raises Political Questions

The controversy intensified after Ajay Kholkar publicly challenged Borkar to initiate action against him. In a pointed social media post, Kholkar alleged that Borkar could hire accountants and legal advisers using ₹3 crore received from Girish.

Kholkar’s allegation has added a financial dimension to the ongoing political confrontation. Although the claim remains an allegation and requires independent verification, it raises questions about the nature of the alleged financial arrangement and its possible political implications.

The controversy also invites questions about the political equations surrounding RGP and its reported association with the Congress. Does the alleged ₹3 crore have any connection to political negotiations or an alliance arrangement with the INC? No established evidence currently confirms such a connection, but the allegation has intensified scrutiny of the party’s internal affairs.

Borkar’s Authority Claims Trigger Fresh Confrontation

The dispute escalated after Borkar questioned Kholkar’s authority to represent RGP at a meeting at the Chief Electoral Officer’s office. Borkar reportedly described Kholkar’s participation as unauthorised, threatened legal action against individuals misusing the party’s name and announced plans to issue official identity cards to authorised party members.

These developments have turned a political disagreement into a larger battle over who controls RGP’s name, identity and official representation.

Kholkar responded defiantly, challenging Borkar to take action against him. His statement, “Kupp warning zali… Bring it on… am waiting,” reflected the growing hostility between the two leaders.

Manoj Parab Hits Back at Borkar

Former RGP state president Manoj Parab also entered the confrontation with a sharp response. Questioning Borkar’s threats, Parab asked whether the MLA would also take action against those who had slept on the footpath at Patto and Azad Maidan.

Parab further asserted his continued presence in the political movement through his Facebook post, declaring, “Manoj Parab Jeeto Asaaa, moronk na.”

His response adds another dimension to the conflict, particularly given his earlier leadership role in the party. The public exchange highlights the growing distance between RGP’s established leadership and its elected representative.

From Political Alternative to Internal Power Struggle

RGP built its political identity around the promise of protecting Goan interests and challenging conventional political practices. However, the latest developments have shifted public attention from those promises to disputes over official titles, identity cards, party representation, legal threats and financial allegations.

Borkar’s confrontation with Kholkar and Parab raises questions about whether the party can maintain its original political direction while its leaders continue to fight over authority and control.

For Goan voters, the bigger concern goes beyond the latest exchange of accusations. They deserve clarity on the party’s leadership, financial transparency, political arrangements and commitment to the principles on which RGP sought their support.

A party that promised clean politics must answer questions about its own internal conduct. When financial allegations, leadership disputes and political uncertainty dominate the headlines, RGP’s leadership cannot expect voters to ignore the questions being raised.
