Restoring Divar’s Sacred Heritage: Historic Kotitirtha Corridor Set Makeover

The Goa Government, through the Department of Archaeology, has announced a restoration and development initiative for the historic Kotitirtha Corridor at Pone Tirth in Divar. The project is being undertaken in association with the Shree Saptakoteshwar Kotitirtha Jeernodhar Samiti, with the objective of preserving the site’s religious, cultural and historical significance.

As part of the initiative, a special Udakshanti and Gangapujan programme will be held on September 4, 2026, at 10 am at the historic site. The programme will mark an important step towards the restoration and preservation of the Kotitirtha corridor.

Preserving Divar’s Cultural Heritage

The Kotitirtha Corridor at Pone Tirth is an important part of Divar’s religious and cultural landscape. The restoration initiative seeks to protect the historic character of the site while ensuring that its heritage continues to be preserved for future generations.

The Department of Archaeology’s involvement underlines the government’s focus on protecting Goa’s historic places and culturally significant sites. By undertaking restoration in collaboration with the Shree Saptakoteshwar Kotitirtha Jeernodhar Samiti, the initiative also brings together government efforts and community participation in safeguarding local heritage.

The upcoming Udakshanti and Gangapujan programme is expected to hold special religious significance as restoration efforts get underway.
