The Goa State Election Commission (SEC) has formally notified the delimitation of wards for 11 Municipal Councils, marking a key step towards the upcoming municipal elections in the state. The delimitation determines the territorial boundaries of individual wards from which councillors will contest elections.
The notification covers Mormugao, Margao, Mapusa, Curchorem-Cacora, Bicholim, Cuncolim, Quepem, Canacona, Valpoi, Pernem and Sanguem Municipal Councils.
Ward Boundaries Now Formally Notified
The State Election Commission has completed the ward delimitation exercise for the 11 municipal councils, formally defining the geographical boundaries of the wards.
Ward delimitation plays an important role in the electoral process as it establishes the areas that each ward will represent. Councillors contesting the municipal elections will be elected from these defined wards.
With the boundaries now officially notified, the municipal election process moves another step forward.

11 Municipal Councils Covered
The delimitation exercise covers municipal councils across different parts of Goa.
The councils include Mormugao and Margao in South Goa, along with Mapusa, Bicholim, Pernem and Valpoi in North Goa. The notification also covers Curchorem-Cacora, Cuncolim, Quepem, Canacona and Sanguem.
The exercise provides the electoral framework within which candidates will contest and voters will elect their respective municipal representatives.
