The Goa Government is taking agriculture to the digital space with a new social media initiative aimed at promoting sustainable, organic and climate-resilient farming across the state. Through the Directorate of Agriculture, the government plans to strengthen digital outreach and take information on farming schemes, services, advisories and local produce directly to farmers, consumers and young entrepreneurs.

Digital Push for Goa’s Farming Sector

The Directorate of Agriculture will appoint a professional agency to manage and promote its activities across social media platforms. The move aims to create a regular and credible digital presence for the department while making agricultural information simpler and more accessible.

The campaign will focus on organic, natural, sustainable, and climate-resilient farming practices. It will also showcase Goa’s agricultural heritage, traditional farming methods, local crops, seasonal produce and success stories of farmers.

The initiative supports the government’s broader objective of strengthening agricultural production and moving towards greater self-sufficiency in food.

Taking Schemes and Advisories Directly to Farmers

The digital campaign will provide farmer-friendly information about government schemes, agricultural services, training programmes, advisories, helplines and official application channels.

The department also plans to use social media to improve communication between farmers and officials. Content will be developed in English, Konkani and Marathi, allowing agricultural information to reach a wider section of Goa’s farming community.

The agency will monitor comments and queries on social media and forward relevant concerns to the Agriculture Department, creating a basic two-way communication channel.

Farmers, Local Produce and Goa’s Agricultural Heritage

A key focus of the campaign will be to create greater awareness and demand for locally grown food. By highlighting local crops, traditional farming practices and farmer success stories, the government aims to reconnect communities with Goa’s agricultural heritage and food culture.

The campaign will also bring agricultural activities closer to younger audiences and aspiring entrepreneurs who increasingly rely on digital platforms for information and opportunities.

Eight Long-Format Videos Every Month

As part of the initiative, the agency will produce at least eight long-format videos every month, with each video running for a minimum of 15 minutes.

The videos will cover topics such as government scheme explainers, farmer success stories, field demonstrations, training programmes, expert interviews, and agricultural events.

The content will be published through the department’s YouTube channel and official website, creating a digital knowledge resource for farmers and the wider public.

Government-Controlled and Verified Information

The Agriculture Department will retain oversight of the campaign. Agricultural, technical, financial, scheme-related and policy information will be provided or approved by authorised department officials before publication.

The digital outreach will cover areas including agriculture, horticulture, farmer welfare, agricultural extension, soil and water conservation, organic and natural farming, crop diversification, market access and farmer organisations.

A Digital Step Towards Sustainable Goa

With more people turning to digital platforms for information, the Goa Government’s social media push can help bring agricultural knowledge, government schemes and farmer opportunities closer to the public.

By combining technology with traditional farming knowledge, the initiative aims to strengthen sustainable agriculture, promote local produce and support Goa’s journey towards a more self-reliant and climate-resilient farming sector.
