Centre sanctions ₹6,200 crore for Anmod–Mollem, Mollem–Khandepar and Bori Bridge projects, strengthening Goa’s highway connectivity
The Centre has approved a major ₹6,200 crore road infrastructure package for Goa, giving a significant boost to highway connectivity and regional mobility. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari announced funding for three key projects covering the Anmod–Mollem and Mollem–Khandepar stretches of NH-748, along with the Bori Bridge.
The projects are expected to improve road connectivity, support smoother traffic movement and strengthen links between Goa and neighbouring Karnataka. The Centre has also initiated land acquisition and forest clearance processes for the Anmod–Mollem project.

Three Major Highway Projects Get Centre’s Backing
The biggest allocation under the package will support the four-laning of the 13-km Anmod–Mollem stretch of National Highway 748.
The Centre has sanctioned ₹2,000 crore for the project. According to the announcement, the process for land acquisition and securing the required forest clearances has already begun.
The upgraded stretch is expected to strengthen the road connection through one of Goa’s important highway corridors and improve traffic movement between Goa and Karnataka.
The Centre has also sanctioned ₹2,200 crore for the four-laning of the 21-km Mollem–Khandepar stretch.
The project will further improve connectivity towards South Goa and neighbouring Karnataka while helping streamline traffic along the existing highway corridor.
Together, the two four-laning projects represent a major investment in upgrading Goa’s national highway network.

₹2,000 Crore Bori Bridge Project
Another major component of the package is the ₹2,000 crore Bori Bridge project.
The proposed bridge is expected to provide an important connectivity link and strengthen road infrastructure in the region. The project will add to Goa’s wider network of major road infrastructure and support smoother movement of vehicles.
With three major projects receiving financial backing, the Centre’s latest approvals could significantly expand Goa’s road infrastructure capacity.
