The Goa Government, through its Transport Department, will launch a major road-safety initiative from October to improve night-time visibility across the state. The department will drive the fitment of reflective tapes on around 2–3 lakh commercial vehicles, including buses, trucks, taxis and goods carriers. The initiative will help motorists spot commercial vehicles more clearly at night and support Goa’s efforts to reduce road accidents.

Goa Govt Steps Up Commercial Vehicle Safety

The Goa Government will strengthen road safety by introducing reflective tapes on commercial vehicles across the state from October.

Through the Goa Transport Department, the government will target around 2–3 lakh commercial vehicles under the initiative. The drive will include buses, trucks, taxis, goods carriers and other transport vehicles.

The reflective tapes will help approaching motorists identify commercial vehicles more easily after dark. Vehicle headlights will illuminate the reflective material and make the vehicles more visible from a distance.

Transport Department Moves Ahead With Implementation

The Goa Transport Department has invited applications from authorised agencies and distributors to supply and fit the reflective tapes.

The department has set September 19 as the application deadline. It will complete the tender process and appoint authorised agencies before launching the fitment drive.

Once the department completes the selection process, authorised agencies will begin fitting reflective tapes on eligible commercial vehicles from October.

Government Focuses on Safer Night Travel

The Goa Government aims to improve safety for motorists travelling on the state’s roads after dark. Commercial vehicles often operate during night hours, making visibility an important part of road safety.

By adding reflective tapes, the Transport Department will help motorists recognise buses, trucks, taxis and goods carriers earlier and respond accordingly.

The initiative will strengthen Goa’s preventive approach to road safety while improving visibility across the state’s commercial transport network.

With around 2–3 lakh vehicles potentially coming under the drive, the Goa Government’s October initiative could create a significant improvement in night-time vehicle visibility and contribute to safer roads for motorists across Goa.
