Dispelling all fears over its long-term viability, Goa International Airport at Dabolim continues its strong financial run, posting a robust annual profit of ₹135 crore to ₹137 crore. Airport Director Flight Lieutenant Akash Deep confirmed these figures during the launch of the Yatri Sewa Abhiyan initiative, assuring stakeholders that the airport remains highly profitable and operationally efficient.
Despite the recent launch of the newer Manohar International Airport at Mopa, Dabolim continues to attract heavy passenger volumes. The airport currently handles approximately 85 daily flights and serves nearly 13,000 passengers every single day.
Strategic Fee Cuts Shield Dabolim from Competition
To maintain a competitive edge and support steady airline operations, the Union Civil Aviation Ministry recently stepped in with aggressive policy adjustments. The ministry slashed landing charges, user development fees (UDF), and aviation security fees by nearly half for airlines operating out of Dabolim.
This decisive move heavily offsets the cost advantages of newer terminals, making Dabolim an incredibly lucrative hub for budget and premium domestic carriers alike.

Winter Schedule Brings International and Domestic Expansion
The airport is gearing up for a massive surge in traffic as the winter travel season approaches. Key expansion highlights include:
- International Boost: Russian carrier Aeroflot will add 10 new weekly flights to its schedule, bringing a fresh influx of international tourists directly to South Goa.
- Regional Connectivity: Goa-based regional airline Fly91 has secured dedicated office space within the terminal and will commence scheduled operations shortly.
- Infrastructure Upgrades: The ongoing Yatri Seva Abhiyan will actively streamline terminal navigation, passenger check-ins, and baggage handling to manage the upcoming crowd.
Local aviation analysts note that the dual-airport model in Goa is thriving faster than expected. While Mopa captures new international routes, Dabolim’s proximity to popular South Goa beach resorts and its newly discounted airline tariffs guarantee its position as a major powerhouse in Indian aviation.
