Goa To Light Up Today For Modi’s Birthday With ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ Campaign

Goans have been invited to light a diya at home on September 17 as Goa joins the month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public service.

Goa is set to add a little more glow to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday celebrations on September 17, with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant appealing to people to join the ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ initiative and light lamps at home.

The campaign forms part of the month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, which will run from September 17 to October 17 across Goa. The initiative marks Modi’s birthday and the upcoming completion of 25 years since he entered constitutional public office as Gujarat’s Chief Minister in October 2001.

One Diya, One Birthday Wish

Under the Goa programme, beneficiaries of several Central government welfare schemes have been encouraged to light seven diyas at 7 PM on September 17.

The list includes beneficiaries of schemes such as PM Awas Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, Startup India and Stand-Up India. BJP leaders and workers are also expected to participate and share photographs from the initiative.

Sawant has positioned the campaign as a way for Goans to acknowledge Modi’s 25-year public-service journey and wish him good health and a long life.

A Month of Seva Across Goa

The ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ marks the beginning of a month packed with activities under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.

The campaign will include cleanliness drives, welfare outreach programmes, competitions for students, cultural activities, awareness camps and public-service initiatives across the state.

Government scheme beneficiaries will also be part of the outreach, with BJP workers and leaders visiting beneficiaries at their homes as part of the campaign.

From diyas and rangolis to cultural programmes and community activities, Goa’s month-long calendar is set to blend seva, celebration and public participation.

For September 17, however, the spotlight is on one small gesture: a diya glowing at home from 6 PM onwards as Goans join the ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ appeal.
