Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has highlighted the Goa Government’s continued focus on women’s welfare, livelihood generation and economic empowerment. The government has disbursed ₹950 crore under the Griha Aadhar scheme and provided around ₹350 crore in marriage assistance through women-focused initiatives.
The government is combining direct financial support with skill development, self-help groups and infrastructure investment to create wider economic opportunities for people across Goa.
₹950 Crore Griha Aadhar Support
CM Sawant highlighted the scale of financial assistance provided through the Griha Aadhar scheme. The Goa Government has disbursed ₹950 crore under the scheme to support eligible women and strengthen household financial security.
The government uses Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to send financial assistance directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts. This system helps streamline welfare payments and allows beneficiaries to receive assistance without depending on intermediaries.
The government has also provided around ₹350 crore in marriage assistance through women-focused welfare initiatives. These measures add to the financial support available to eligible women and families across the state.

Focus on Skills and Livelihoods
CM Sawant also highlighted the government’s efforts to expand skill development and livelihood opportunities. Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) provide technical and vocational training that can help young people develop skills for employment and self-employment.
The government also supports self-help groups (SHGs) to promote entrepreneurship and strengthen local livelihoods. Through SHGs, women can take up income-generating activities and build opportunities for greater economic participation.
Welfare Linked With Economic Growth
The Goa Government is linking welfare assistance with skill development and livelihood generation to support long-term economic participation. While schemes such as Griha Aadhar provide direct financial assistance, ITIs and SHGs create pathways for skills, entrepreneurship and income generation.
CM Sawant also pointed to infrastructure investments as part of the government’s broader development strategy. Better infrastructure can support connectivity, public facilities and economic activity across different parts of Goa.
