The department recently joined hands with ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), North Goa, to train farmers in nutrition management and reproductive techniques to tackle repeat breeding in cows.
Goa Government Focuses On Cattle Fertility
The Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Government of Goa, continues to support farmers through veterinary services, livestock health initiatives and technical guidance.
As part of this effort, the department collaborated with ICAR-KVK, North Goa, to conduct a farmer training programme focused on repeat breeding in cows.
Repeat breeding occurs when a cow undergoes artificial insemination several times but does not conceive. The problem can reduce livestock productivity and increase the cost of breeding for farmers.
The training aimed to help farmers understand the possible factors behind repeated breeding failures and adopt appropriate management practices to improve reproductive outcomes.
