The Goa Government is set to increase monthly financial assistance under the Griha Aadhar Scheme and Dayanand Social Security Scheme, providing greater support to women, senior citizens, and other eligible beneficiaries. Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant said the increase will be implemented after Ganesh Chaturthi, with the required provision already made in the state Budget. The proposed hike could be up to ₹500 per month.
Welfare Assistance Set for a Boost
The Goa Government is preparing to increase the financial assistance provided under two major social welfare programmes – Griha Aadhar and the Dayanand Social Security Scheme.
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant said the enhanced assistance will be implemented after Ganesh Chaturthi. With the financial provision already included in the state budget, the monthly increase could be up to ₹500.
Currently, women covered under the Griha Aadhar Scheme receive ₹1,500 per month, while beneficiaries of the Dayanand Social Security Scheme receive ₹2,000 per month. The proposed increase is expected to provide additional financial support to thousands of eligible Goans.

Dayanand Scheme to Cover More Beneficiaries
Along with increasing the assistance, the government is also looking at expanding the beneficiary base of the Dayanand Social Security Scheme.
According to the report, transgender persons and pilots are proposed to be brought under the scheme. The programme currently supports around 1.29 lakh beneficiaries, with the number expected to rise following the inclusion of additional categories.
The move is aimed at strengthening the reach of Goa’s social security network and ensuring that financial assistance reaches a wider section of eligible residents.
Existing Benefits to Continue With Goa Ujjwala
The government has also clarified that beneficiaries receiving assistance under Griha Aadhar and Dayanand Social Security will continue to receive their existing benefits even if they avail themselves of the newly launched Goa Ujjwala Scheme.
The clarification is significant for beneficiaries who may have been concerned about losing their existing welfare assistance after applying for the LPG scheme.
Under the Goa Ujjwala Scheme, eligible beneficiaries will receive three free domestic LPG cylinders annually. Applications are being processed through panchayats, municipalities and MLAs’ offices.
The government has maintained that availing one welfare initiative will not automatically result in the withdrawal of benefits under another eligible scheme.
