The Goa Government has proposed a significant increase in financial assistance under the Atal Asara Yojana, aimed at helping economically weaker families construct, reconstruct, or repair their homes. The proposal seeks to raise assistance for new house construction from ₹3 lakh to ₹4 lakh, while support for house repairs could increase from ₹1.5 lakh to ₹2 lakh.
The move would provide greater financial support to eligible beneficiaries as construction and repair costs continue to rise.
How Atal Asara Yojana Helps
The Atal Asara Yojana provides supplementary financial assistance for housing to economically weaker sections, including Scheduled Caste and Other Backward Class families. The assistance can be used for construction, reconstruction, or repairs and is intended to supplement support received under other housing schemes where applicable.
Under the existing framework, families with annual income up to ₹3 lakh are eligible, subject to other scheme conditions. The government also moved the scheme online in February 2026 to make applications easier for beneficiaries.

735 Beneficiaries Have Benefited
735 beneficiaries have availed themselves of the Atal Asara Yojana over the past five years. The proposed enhancement in assistance is from ₹3 lakh to ₹4 lakh for new houses and from ₹1.5 lakh to ₹2 lakh for repairs.
The proposed revision comes with a focus on ensuring that financial assistance reaches its intended purpose. The government has also flagged cases where beneficiaries received the first instalment but did not proceed with subsequent assistance, stressing that funds sanctioned for housing should be utilised for the approved construction or repair work.
Stronger Support for Better Homes
The proposed increase reflects the government’s effort to make housing assistance more responsive to current construction and repair costs. If approved, the enhanced support could give eligible families greater financial capacity to build safer homes or undertake essential repairs.
The Atal Asara Yojana therefore remains an important housing-support measure for economically weaker families, with the proposed increase aimed at making that assistance more substantial and practical.
