Goa Government Steps Up Infrastructure Development Across Industrial Estates

The Goa Government, through the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (Goa-IDC), is stepping up infrastructure development across industrial estates in the state, with major works focused on roads, drainage, water supply, waste management and other essential facilities.

Strengthening Industrial Infrastructure

The infrastructure push covers several industrial estates, including Verna, Tuem, Kundaim, Madkai, Pilerne, Sancoale, Bicholim, Bethora, Honda, Kakoda, Cuncolim, Canacona, Colvale, Mapusa, Shiroda, Tivim, Panchwadi, Sanguem and Pissurlem.

The works include road upgrades, white topping, hot-mix surfacing, storm-water drains and cross-drainage systems. These improvements are expected to strengthen internal connectivity and help address waterlogging, particularly during the monsoon.

Better Roads, Drainage and Water Supply

At Verna Industrial Estate, the government is undertaking road development for newly created plots, extending water distribution pipelines and improving drainage and traffic management systems. Solid waste management facilities are also being developed.

At Tuem, infrastructure works include approach roads and drainage systems for newly approved industrial plots, along with water infrastructure and solid waste management facilities.

Similar road, drainage and water-supply improvements are being carried out at Kundaim, Madkai, Bicholim, Bethora, Honda, Kakoda and Pilerne.

At Sancoale, works include repairs to underground sumps, construction of concrete drains and compound walls, as well as a proposed police outpost.

Supporting Workers and Businesses

Infrastructure development is also being extended to facilities that support workers and industrial activity. A working women’s hostel has been proposed at Cuncolim under the Ministry of MSME’s SASCI scheme.

Through Goa-IDC, the Goa Government is working to create better-connected, better-managed and future-ready industrial estates, supporting smoother business operations, employment opportunities and the state’s broader economic growth.
