Goa Targets Up to 8,000 New Jobs in Six Months

Goa is set for a major employment push, with Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant announcing that the state government aims to create 6,000 to 8,000 new jobs over the next six months, with the Goa Human Resource Development Corporation (GHRDC) driving the initiative.

Addressing the 80th Independence Day celebrations at the Old Secretariat in Panaji, Dr. Pramod Sawant said job creation remains a key priority for the state government and that efforts will continue to expand employment opportunities for Goa’s youth.

According to the Chief Minister, more than 5,000 youth are currently working through the GHRDC, which has emerged as an important avenue for employment generation in the state.

The government is also continuing recruitment through the Goa Staff

Selection Commission (GSSC). More than 3,000 youth have already been recruited through the commission through a transparent selection process.

Dr. Sawant said thousands more youth are expected to secure government jobs through the Staff Selection Commission in the coming days, signalling a continued focus on transparent recruitment.

Contract staff to be regularised

In another major decision, the Chief Minister announced that the government has decided to regularise contract employees who have completed 10 years of government service.

The move is expected to provide greater stability to long-serving contractual employees who have spent a decade working in various government departments and institutions.
