Goa Strengthens Education and Employment with 222 New Teacher Appointments

The Government of Goa organised a Rozgar Melava at the Institute Menezes Braganza, Panaji, where Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant handed over offer letters to 222 candidates selected for appointment as Government Primary School Teachers. The selection process was conducted by the Goa Staff Selection Commission, marking another step towards strengthening recruitment in the state’s education sector.

The programme highlighted the important role of primary school teachers in shaping the early development of children. Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant said primary teachers have a lasting influence on a child’s personality, discipline, values and approach to learning. He emphasised that their responsibility extends beyond classroom teaching, as they help build the foundation on which children shape their future.

He congratulated the newly appointed teachers and called upon them to discharge their responsibilities with dedication, integrity and discipline.

The appointment of 222 Government Primary School Teachers is expected to strengthen the teaching workforce in government schools and support improved teaching and learning at the primary level. The recruitment also addresses the need for qualified teaching personnel in government schools across the state.

The Rozgar Melava further highlighted the government’s focus on transparent recruitment and creating employment opportunities for eligible candidates across different categories. The initiative combines employment generation with efforts to strengthen the state’s public education system.

The programme was attended by Minister for Fisheries Nilkanth Halarnkar, St. Cruz MLA Rodolfo Fernandes, Secretary (Education) Prasad Lolienkar, IAS, Director of Education Shailesh R. Sinai Zingde, along with officials from the Directorate of Education.
